Interpolation Formulas and Auxiliary Functions

چکیده
We prove an interpolation formula for ``semi-cartesian products'' and use it to study several constructions of auxiliary functions. We get in this way a criterion for the values of the exponential map of an elliptic curve E defined over Q. It reduces the analogue of Schanuel's conjecture for the elliptic logarithms of E to a statement of the form of a criterion of algebraic independence. We also consider a construction of auxiliary function related to the four exponentials conjecture and show that it is essentially optimal. For analytic functions vanishing on a semi-cartesian product, we get a version of the Schwarz lemma in which the exponent involves a condition of distribution reminiscent of the so-called technical hypotheses in algebraic independence. We show by two examples that such a condition is unavoidable. 2002 Elsevier Science (USA)

Spline Interpolation of Functions with a Boundary Layer Component
This paper is concerned with the spline interpolation of functions with a boundary layer component. It is shown that polynomial formulas of spline interpolation for such functions lead to significant errors. We proposed nonpolynomial spline interpolation formulas, fitted to a boundary layer component. Nonsmooth and smooth on whole interval interpolants are constructed. The accuracy of construct...
متن کاملOptimum-Point Formulas for Osculatory and Hyperosculatory Interpolation
Formulas are given for n-point osculatory and hyperosculatory (as well as ordinary) polynomial interpolation for f(x), over ( —1, 1), in terms of fixi), f'(xi) and f"(x/) at the irregularly-spaced Chebyshev points x¡ = —cos {(2i — l)ir/2n}, i = 1, • • ■ , n. The advantage over corresponding formulas for Xi equally spaced is in the squaring and cubing, in the respective osculatory and hyperoscul...

Fuzzy Hermite interpolation of 5th degree generalizes Lagrange interpolation by fitting a polynomial to a function f that not only interpolates f at each knot but also interpolates two number of consecutive Generalized Hukuhara derivatives of f at each knot. The provided solution for the 5th degree fuzzy Hermite interpolation problem in this paper is based on cardinal basis functions linear com...
متن کاملAuxiliary functions in transcendental number theory
We discuss the role of auxiliary functions in the development of transcendental number theory. Earlier auxiliary functions were completely explicit (§ 1). The earliest transcendence proof is due to Liouville (§ 1.1), who produced the first explicit examples of transcendental numbers at a time where their existence was not yet known; in his proof, the auxiliary function is just a polynomial in o...
متن کاملExistence of Gauss Interpolation Formulas for the One-Dimensional Heat Equation
Let C = {(x(s), t(s)): a < i < b} be a Jordan arc in the x-t plane satisfying (x(a), f(a)) = (a, f.), (x(b), t(b)) = (b, f „), and t(s) < tt when a < s < b. Let a < xt < b. We prove the existence of Gauss interpolation formulas for C and the point (x„ f„), for solutions u of the one-dimensional heat equation, ut = uxx. Such formulas approximate u(xt, tt) in terms of a linear combination of its ...
